Excerpts - I

Quote:

"
perhaps what we call the future has already happened, and only because our view is limited that we fail to see it. Perhaps that is why some people can 'read' it as easily as the light of a star which has been extinct for centauries.
Perhaps the secret lies in breaking away from the dimension of time - time as we normally conceive it, made up of years, hours, seconds.
"

- by Tiziano Terzani, A Fortune-Teller Told Me

Interesting concept, which many have known but fail to see it in another light. A star which becomes extinct is not apparent to us, as the light from the extinct star takes time to reach us, before we know it has been extinct. But the star has already become extinct(the future) by the time we see it(the present).

Am reading the above book now, which is very intellectually stimulating. It talks of the author, who was warned by a fortune teller, not to travel by plane in year 2003. And he didnt, instead travelling by road, trains and cars. And he gives a very different insight on the things he sees, and experiences.

I will be doing a great dis-service if I were to speed read through this one..

rather than "but the star has already become extinct (the future) by the time we see it (the present)", perhaps it can also be seen as "but the star has already become extinct (the present) by the time we see it (the past)"

this is also called human reaction time, or lag time.

I think you might have misunderstood me.

The star which has become extinct, is the future which has yet to reach us. The time as we see it, is the present, as in now. In other words, the future has happened, but it has not reached us, because it has to surpass distance first.

Therefore, it is another way to look at time, via distance.

And I dont think that is the human reaction time, isit? As it is not was who is slow in reacting to the event, but rather, the event was 'slow' in reaching us.
